AIM is a non-profit senior program funded under Title III of the Older Americans Act through Baltimore City’s Commission on Aging and Retirement Education, member’s dues and contributions, and other funding sources.

AIM’s History

Action In Maturity was founded in 1970 by members of the Greater Homewood Corporation of Baltimore to add socialization and mobility for senior citizens living in North Baltimore City.

AIM’s Mission

The purpose of Action In Maturity is to provide appropriate activities and services to benefit the personal development and quality of life of older people and to support their ability to live independently within the community as long as possible.  To these ends, AIM maintains and extends linkages with other organizations and institutions sharing these objectives.  AIM does not have a senior center but is an organization committed to outreach through the facilitation of activities in diverse locations throughout North Baltimore.

AIM Today

AIM today now reaches out to twenty plus satellite sites housing senior citizens.  We also provide outreach services to private residences within our catchment area.  Our catchment area runs north to the Baltimore County line, south to 23rd Street, east to the Alameda and west to just beyond the Jones Falls.

Our market research confirms that socialization and transportation are two main elements that contribute to the well being of senior citizens.  AIM has expanded all programs to include all the things that our members have always enjoyed.  These include, but are not limited to, shopping, concerts, the theatre, lectures, museums, health screenings, movies, sporting events, and personal appointments.

AIM is a non-profit organization funded through the Commission on Aging and Retirement Education (CARE) under the Older American’s Act.  We are also funded through membership dues and donations as well as supplemental grants and contributions from the community.  AIM is an integral part of the city’s services for seniors.
